 Celebrating LGBT History Month and

Highlighting Homophobic Bullying for Years 8, 9, 10

26th - 30th April  2010

A powerful new production combining video and live performance

RESPECT deals with issues of homophobic bullying, stereotypes, use of homophobic language, peoples prejudices and positive role models

As AJ, Kate and Jamie set up an exhibition to help celebrate LGBT History Month they gradually reveal the prejudices that they have faced growing up gay and lesbian. This includes incidents of homophobic bullying and rejection by both friends and family. Drawing strength from each others stories they grow stronger and realise that although it’s not an easy journey they’re not on their own…

“We’ve all got our own problems to deal with. Whether you’re black, disabled, straight, follow a religion, gay, have purple hair, you're fat, you're thin, you support Liverpool! We all want the same thing…. We all want to be treated with RESPECT.” (Jamie)

Schools can book either a morning or an afternoon performance for a whole year group at a time. The production will last approximately 50 minutes and is followed by a hot-seating session.
